Elisha Childress
Last Tuesday Elisha Childress died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S.H. Parsley, northeast of Panola. He was born in Tennessee on October 4, 1854. He was an active member of the Southern Baptist church for thirty-five years, his membership being at the Mt. Zion Baptist church near Knoxville, Tenn. He leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Smith of El Paso; seven children, William B. Childress of Lowell, Ind.; Oba Childress of Woodford county; Mrs. H.J. Wilkerson of Muncie, Ind.; Mrs. M.L. Childress of Heiskell, Tenn.; Mrs. Bazil Caldwell of Knoxville, Tenn.; Mrs. C.M. Daniel and Mrs. S.H. Parsely of this county. He was a devoted father and an exemplary citizen in every way.
Funeral service was held from the Parsley home on the Charles Abbott farm this morning at 10:00 o’clock, Rev. H.W. Hines in charge. Interment was in the Baughman cemetery.

Death of Shiloh Lady
Last Monday Mrs. C.M. Daniel died at her home on the Ed Engel farm in Panola township. Her father, Elisha Childress, passed away only a few days before, as noted in last week’s Journal.
Alice Childress was born in Tennessee on June 30, 1883. She was united in marriage to C.M. Daniel March 1, 1902 and to this union seven children were born, Paul, Frank and Claude, deceased, and Florence, Pearl, Trent and Clarence who are left to mourn with their father. The deceased also leaves four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. H.J. Wilkerson of Muncie, Ind.; Mrs. M.L. Childress of Heiskell, Tenn.; Mrs. Carson Caldwell of Knoxville, Tenn.; Mrs. S.H. Parsley of Panola township; W.B. Childress of Lowell, Ind.; and Oba Childress of this county. She was a member of the Baptist church for the past twenty years, her membership being in Zion Hill church near Knoxville, Tenn. Mrs. Daniel had made many friends since coming to Panola and was highly regarded by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held from the home this morning at 11:00 o’clock, Rev. H.W. Hines of El Paso in charge. Interment was in the Baughman cemetery.
