    Notes 
    • One Courtney genealogy says Buford moved from Kentucky to Berington, Switzerland Co., Indiana about 1830. I find no Berington on the current Indiana map but there is a Bennington.

      Buford is said to have bought out the brothers' and sisters' share of the Edward Thurber farm in Randolph Co., Indiana, and his boys ran the farm while he continued in the shoemaker trade. See notes on Edward Thurber to identify the land in question.
